  1. All true. But what I was referring to was that most members do not upgrade and many do not even bother buying ads, solo ads, etc. From my research and experience, I have learned that many who get into this expect the opposite and are disappointed by their lack of results. They fail to understand that they will not get rich from this type of business (though some have done well for themselves).
  2. It seems to me that people who own these sites have a problem in understanding exactly what they are getting themselves into. It seems that they are also getting into them with the idea of "getting rich quick" or "just getting rich" from them. I've seen this before many times with TE's and Text Ads Exchanges. I think, many start out well intentioned, but don't research their particular business/industry well enough. If they did, they might make better choices. Just a thought.
  3. If I may mention something here. I noticed that some of the autoresponder services offer high quality training seminars and lessons for no extra cost. If you really want to use a lead pulling system try them instead. You get everything you need.
  4. I seem to be hearing alot of negative news about this site. Are they the same ones who get into people's contact list and email them? Isn't that illegal? I got notices from an associate about this (from his contact list) but ignored it.
  5. Thanks for the warning guys. I had seen this site and others similar to it for some time. Had considered trying it out as a test run to promote one of my sites. I'm glad I didn't.
  6. I would be very careful about dealing with Vick/Vitally or anything he represents. I did some research on this guy and everything he has put out has been labeled a scam and most have been shut down. He has been characterized as a charismatic con artist (the most dangerous for you wallet) who never stays in one place for very long and never keeps any of his programs alive. I noticed that he has moved on to his latest scam. I tried the 4 Percent group and decided I didn't like his fear generating pushes to upgrade and misleading videos regarding certain steps.
  7. When you see these scam emails or any official looking email, it is always better to do this to ensure your account security. Open another tab and log in through the main site. DO NOT go through the link in the email! I have seen these emails in the past. No so many now as I did some time ago. It can be very difficult to detect a scam link as the thieves have gotten better about disguising them. Site like Paypal have a section on how to detect scam sites/links. BUT, they also make the same suggestion I made above. As for the "distress emails". I would make it a point to read up on how these things work. The one thing that is common with most of them is this: they will start asking you for "fees" to set up some sort of balony for the account funds to be transferred. The fees usually go up in cost. Another aspect of this is that, even if the account funds ARE transferred (usually a few thousand or so to start) the "sender" can accuse FRAUD and get the money back plus penalties which you, the victim, pay. As for the latter, you can also wind up in BIG trouble with the bank and FTC. It's called the Nigerian 419 scam.
  8. I try to check on sites like this before I join them. I have been burned in the past by sites that claim high returns for my clicking efforts. None of them have ever paid. I learned the hard way that many of them were owned by the same scammers. I tend to believe it is always better to check on scam warning sites first.
  9. I always go with this addage: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. With their current following why would somebody like ebay use a service like theirs? Just a thought.
  10. The one thing I have learned is that you NEVER should try direct sales. I have tried it before and it doesn't work. Anyone who has been in this for awhile can tell you that. Most experts now tell you the same thing. You need to create a landing page to send them to it in order to generate interest in you offer and let your landing page do the work. Even sites like getresponse.com tell you this. There are a number of email marketing courses out there and this is something they teach. Trying to use a direct sales approach almost always fail. The difference is 1-3% in direct sales vs. up to 8% or more. (I may be wrong in the actual percentages, but you get the idea.) I don't think it is the fault of udimi or any other site that sells solo ads. From what you wrote, it sounded like your seller tried to warn you.
  11. It could be because of all the shady sites. I don't like being ripped off.
  12. He's done this three times? Doesn't he realize that his reputation is thrashed? I don't think there will be many who will sign up if they realize they are going to get ripped off.
  13. I'd like to address this in two ways: First, everything seems to be geared towards Paypal. They are relatively easy to set up and use with fairly low cost fees. They make it easy for you to use their services and most people fall for it. They provide a number of needed services like fraud protection, etc. They have a monopoly on the payment processing industry. At one point in time, they refused to do business with anyone who had alternate payment processors. Second, There are alternatives. The main drawback to the alternatives is that they require more paperwork and there are more details to deal with. I think this is the main reason people use Paypal. Though it has been awhile since I looked into this, I don't remember if the other payment processors had direct deposits to your accounts or not. I do remember that most only paid by monthly check.
  14. I think the timer has more to do with your browser. I seem to remember this issue some time ago as I ran into an issue where the timer was not counting down to zero. It would hang up at 1 and never finish. Though it could have been the site too. Someone once told me that the timer issue is in the browser. the browser waits for the site to load before allowing the timer to count down. I have seen this a few times when objercts on the site will not load or is slow to do so.
  15. You are correct. My bad. But the same thing still applies. I had some business going through Alertpay till they froze my account and stole my money. They never gave me a reason nor did they respond to any of my support tickets.
  16. I think too many people remember Payza as Stormpay and got ripped off by them. I know I did. It will be a cold day in hell before I give them my business again.
  17. This was another one I had considered joining, but never got around to it. Thanks for the warning!
  18. Since this list is about safelists, I thought I would ask if anyone knows of any good ones out there. I am a member of two right now, but wish to expand my potential audience. Please pm me if you know any.
  19. The hosting is $29.95? Sounds like he should have been shopping around for hosting. You can get good hosting for alot less than that. AS for the rest, he should have planned better. If he was trying to live off this, he was fooling himself. It takes alot of time and effort to get a TE off the ground and making any consistent money. Not many take off and profit right away. He should have done his homework first.
  20. I have had this happen to me as well. I use Firefox mostly. What are you using?
  21. I am a member there too. The one reason I don't spend much time there is the "Elitist" attitude I sense there. It may be part of the overall culture there. I don't know. One thing I do know is that a lot of the responses I have had there to my posts leave alot to be desired.
  22. I'm a little surprised. It's been awhile since I saw a Donkeymails ad anywhere. I was of the impression (as it seems other are as well) that PTP(Paid to Promote) sites were not well received anymore. I was also of the impression that a number of them were shut down as scam sites or were themselves being scammed.I was also of the impression that many of them were banned from TE's. Can anybody shed some light on this?
  23. My New Year's Resolution is to succeed where I have failed before.
  24. Are they necessary? Yes, and no. I think they can be a great asset, but there are a number of risks associated with them. I would be very careful and not store sensitive info on them as they can be hacked or the data can be stolen.
  25. Before you spend time with these sites, it is always a good idea to check them out. There are a number of sites out there that help identify these scam sites. One thing that I learned about some of them is this: They force you to upgrade before they will pay out. This is a pretty good indicator that it is a ponzi scheme or scam site. No legit site is going to do this, at least none that I have ever heard of.
