Guest mrclean0325 Posted September 28, 2016 Report Posted September 28, 2016 I have been having issues the past few days with Firefox myself. I am not sure whether it is Firefox in my case since it started happening after the last OSX update for ElCapitan. But having had many issues with Firefox over the years has left me searching for another browser. I don't know if you have tried the "Refresh" option which will save important data, but delete all of your themes, extensions, and plugins and create a new profile or not. In my case no matter what I did it didn't work. firefox was still dog slow and some pages wouldn't render correctly. So I have found a new browser I am testing which works really well so far. If is called Vivaldi (https://vivaldi.com) and so far works REALLY well for me. It reminds me of the old Opera browser which I loved for all the customization features and it worked so well. I missed being able to alphabetize all of my over 5000 bookmarks automatically. It also has a trashcan for bookmarks in case you accidentally delete one, did that one recently in Firefox and they are lost forever... You may just have to wait until they fix Firefox with a new update...again. The only reason i used it was because it is mutli-platform and I can just sign in and have all of my bookmarks on any OS I decide to play with.
warlord Posted September 28, 2016 Author Report Posted September 28, 2016 Thanks.I will try Vivaldi browser and will share my experience.
ckoch Posted October 8, 2016 Report Posted October 8, 2016 clean your browser with superantispyware (deletes cookies). Get a good antivirus for free and a free firewall. Wisecare 365 will clean your computer and registry its free. All this is free. If you don't doall of this regularly no browser will work right. Best free antivirus is avast. You also have to defrag regularly.
warlord Posted October 8, 2016 Author Report Posted October 8, 2016 Thank you ckochI installed superantispyware but still getting problem with hanging browser I clear caches every session.Even in Safemode(firefox) it hangs. I will install Wisecare 365. Thank you
Greg Wessels Posted October 8, 2016 Report Posted October 8, 2016 Firefox has become to bloated as of late. Tejas, perhaps an one of your browser addons is the culprit. Pale Moon browser is also an option. Based on the FF engine but without the bloat - trimmed down FF. Personally, I use Traffic Browser for surfing. Also use Tab Accelerator for sites not included in TB.
leiana777 Posted October 8, 2016 Report Posted October 8, 2016 You should use cccleaner or tune up programs, also disable some 2ndary programs that run in background. If the problem is the browser, downgrade manually to firefox 48 and set to no perform the automatic actualizations.firefox 49 is still new, so its natural that random bugs appear.
Allen Tan Posted October 9, 2016 Report Posted October 9, 2016 Thanks guys for the info here. It is useful for me too.
pf4edward Posted October 9, 2016 Report Posted October 9, 2016 Have you considered using the Chromium browser (not Chrome)? i was also looking for a cross platform browser that i can access and sync with when fire-fox was getting too big to execute effectively on my computer system. As a backup, i am also using an older version of fire-fox that last worked for my system and was mostly non-proprietary.
ajay_dce Posted October 10, 2016 Report Posted October 10, 2016 ccleaner is a good tool to repeatedly clean your pc and browser. very small file approx 6 mb and easy to use

Yersh321 Posted October 13, 2016 Report Posted October 13, 2016 Hello warlord :-)In my opinion, you would be much easier to return the browser to its original state. And then the new set it up. What for to you all these tools? Do as here suggest and get virgin FireFox.https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/refresh-firefox-reset-add-ons-and-settings

Yersh321 Posted October 14, 2016 Report Posted October 14, 2016 I do not know if I break the rules, but I do not have any benefit from the placement of the post. I'm just sharing my experience.Security browser facilitates the use of the sandbox. Free software to version 3.76, 4.20Sandboxie uses isolation technology to separate programs from your underlying operating system preventing unwanted changes from happening to your personal data, programs and applications that rest safely on your hard drive. You run the browser in a sandbox. Works. At the end of the session clean the sandbox. All data that you do not save (including cookies, cache, etc. -.. Removed).Find a program you can on the tag "sandboxie" in any search engine.
fknskcof Posted October 27, 2016 Report Posted October 27, 2016 Try the easiest way.install and use another browser like chrome.
Yersh321 Posted October 28, 2016 Report Posted October 28, 2016 Try the easiest way.install and use another browser like chrome.Even more simple way to reinstall Windows each time the browser is dirty
stevesapps Posted October 28, 2016 Report Posted October 28, 2016 Ccleaner is excellent, but also Spybot 2 is free and will immunize your system too, and then remove all spyware and tracking cookies. I run two coal-powered laptops from the 90s lol but using the two I'm able to go on with them, they're faster than my Dad's new Win10 laptop lol. Also, Avast have an excellent tool, the software updater. It checks everything from Flash to Firefox to Java etc and then allows you to install the updates really easily. Like I say, I'm using 'tech' from yester-year and FF is working fine for me, on both systems
warlord Posted October 29, 2016 Author Report Posted October 29, 2016 Even more simple way to reinstall Windows each time the browser is dirty Yes Didi it too and it working fine
pf4edward Posted December 29, 2016 Report Posted December 29, 2016 just came across another browser that is non-proprietary and has your security in mind against those other browsers that promise to keep your surfing safe and secure... it's called IceCat. i've been using it and haven't had any slowdown problems or any crashes due to the use (and abuse) of flash and java-script. highly recommended for your surfing protection. fsf.org
