Marketing Checkpoint

I know what am talking about I tried it for 3 years straight and definitely had to kick the habit as advertising with facebook has become extremely toxic to my bank account with dozens of withdrawals and not one single deposit from marketing and marketing on social media with facebook being the worst offender of them all.

Sure, I received thousand of clicks that cost me anywhere from $0.003 per click to $2.50 per click. My greatest peeve was the fact that for some reason it seems that if you are living outside the US it's virtually impossible to optimise your ad to receive USA traffic and if you do it will cost you a very affordable $2.00 per engagement - grrrrrrr8!!!

Another shitty experience goes like this: I optimise my ads for traffic to be generated from USA, UK, Canada and Australia but for some reason by some algorithm your ad is reset to receive traffic from Zarzerbania, African Sahara and the Pigmy Islands in the South Pacific.

So my educated conclusion is that FaceBook is unfriendly to advertisers who are not based in the USA and other so-called "tier 1" countries.

I have had tremendous success with Linkedin.  Why would I want to waste my time with FB?

I prefer to use traditional advertising methods rather then social media.

Tradition Method of Advertising:

- Viral Mailers

- Traffic Exchanges

- Classifieds

- Ad Boards

- FFA (Free For All)

- Banner Ad Networks

- Viral Ad Networks

- And Etc...

BTW, I never get any complaints about posting ads to Traditional Advertising Resources! :)

Facebook is an advertising medium for content, also known as native advertising.

Not to sound harsh but anyone in advertising will tell you that the medium is almost never the problem, especially on such a huge network as Facebook. It's you. If you are paying $2+ for a click you are not targeting your ads appropriately. You are going after bulk traffic that big fish are already bidding up and will never keep up with their budgets. You need to find your buyers closer to their decision making process and focus them through a lead capture mechanism like your Facebook Fan Page where you can give them blog content that helps them choose your recommended solutions.

Typically the same small marketer paying over $2 per click is also not funneling like I said above, and has no real list building, and is trying to promote products directly instead of promoting content that suggest products lightly as recommended solutions. 3 years and a ton of dollars and you say no results and I can use a fan page and make sales without even buying promoted ads, the promoted ads just help people discover great content that fills their needs and offers solutions that are realistic great matches.

I'm sure if you could target internet marketing groups it could do great but I don't know if it's possible. I know absolutely nothing about facebook ads.

Facebook doesn't allow anything that sounds like Get Rich Quick, but product based marketing or legit online jobs do well. Never market whole communities as they require a ton of cash to reach just a few leads. Instead look for the people you really wish to join.

Example; I want affiliate or network marketers with money to invest in a business and are serious about getting started.

Keywords I could use:

Business Start Up Under 15k

real business opportunity under 5k

franchise business from home under 5k

start a business invest today

make money in a low investment business

Interest

money, business,investment,start up,franchise

You would target within a interest the people who are interested in the keywords you target.

In my experience with FB ads, it was a very costly venture with little results. I actually had better luck with post boosting or page promotions. I also learned the hard way that your choice of keywords and demographics choices has alot to do with my results.

I just put my website on my FB page and had some traffic.

Yes, you can. But my comment was directed at using their ads services. I worked at sticking to posting to groups and got better results.

I trying get traffic without spend a dime

As do I now. But the issue for me there is where do I go for the free traffic? How effective is it? I have tried some free sources that were not worth the effort and time I put into it. That is why I keep asking for new resources of traffic.

SimplyGenius makes a valid point.  I have come to the conclusion that Zuckerburgh and his empire only passionately cares about their shareholders.

I recently learned a valuable lesson when it comes to paid advertising with Facebook.

I thank God that it only cost me $30 USD.

In early September I launched a page and ran an ad simply for exposure (Likes).  I set the ad to run for 30 days as I was experimenting on a campaign.  I meticulously set up all the proper demographics and had a set amount of countries that I was targeting.  The United States and Canada was not part of this group.  I only chose a $1 daily budget since I was testing.  During the 30 days I was obtaining a fairly good daily average of likes from all over the world.

At the end of the 30 days I added the US and Canada and removed the original countries that I started with.  I then re-submitted the ad....the VERY same ad and details.  The only thing I changed were the targeted countries.  Within a half hour I get a message stating that the ad was rejected.

My first thought was, "These foul jokers!"

It was okay to submit the ad (prior to taking the money) but the same ad was rejected 30 days later.

I don't have time for the skull duggery going on over at Facebook Business.  I'm just so grateful that there are other methods - many more.

Unfortunately, many people like to give the impression that social media marketing (particularly Facebook) is the only way to go.

A complete and utter fallacy.

PS...

What I find ironic is that to this day they have the gall to send me marketing messages encouraging me to "boost a post" from the SAME page I was trying to promote for likes in the first place.

Actually I had managed to optimise at least a dozen ads posted on Facebook from paying $0.50 per click/engagement to under $0.01 per click using a few optimizing strategy I learnt with a number of FaceBook marketing strategy guides.

I managed to optimise the ads to the best cost possible however none of this resulted in any significant sale in my amazon account so I gave up. If anyone can let me in on the best service or product to drive Facebook traffic to then let me know.

BTW it's doesn't matter which location you optimize your ads for as their algorithm mindlessly changes that to what they think best often sending you un targeted results.

Trust me I will be revisiting the traditional methods of advertising as I believe they do still work well.

I use Facebook to make sales and have been doing pretty good.

I don't do the paid advertising. Just posting on FB Groups and adding friends on FB who see my opportunity.

Candi,

Is it safe to assume that you stay far away from the many contrived (and scripted) attempts at "getting to know" fellow entrepreneurs on Facebook?

I find that after joining groups you suddenly will receive an avalanche of bland and obviously scripted verbiage from other small business owners.  It defeats the purpose of social networking.

I have joined groups only to be pounced on; and it quickly became obvious that few people had a genuine interest in actually getting to know you - the person.

MANY social media marketers see you as a statistic..or a dollar sign, even.

It's a major turn off as they make it clear that they are not after building the relationship.

It's easy to tell by just examining the dialogue.

Lots of people like FB.  I am not one of them.  It's great for the social aspects, but is obviously not geared primarily for business. As I have said before, I like Linkedin and traditional advertising.
