Rudi, Great topic to start and love everyones comments.

Speaking from my experience the reasons that 95% of the people in MLN do not succeed is:

No one to talk to on a consistent basis and no one to show them how to talk to prospects.

Most people who get involved with a company do not have the stamina to be rejected over and

over again.  Forget about calling family.  They do not understand that being rejected gets you closer

to success.  Also most people take the prospects no personally.

Rudi you mentioned your up-line get the best leads.  That good be somewhat true because you never

know how they get the leads.  You will get good leads if you are trying to succeed in the company.

I recently received some voice broadcast leads and it is like night and day speaking with them.

They were networks of course.  I think it does boil down to experience in speaking with prospects on a

regular basis.

Doug Firebaugh mentioned on a call one time that he loves to hear the word No because he knows

that is getting closer to that all important Yes.

The very successful networkers have paid their dues and have made their 1,000's and 1,000's of calls

and have failed during the process and have learned how to succeed.  After years in the business

they now have lists that they can just call and people will follow.

Most people are not willing to get in the trenches and call their first 100 people and get beat up a little

they just give up and say this stuff does not work, I had no help, the comp plan was no good, etc.

In reality it was they were not driven to succeed.

Don't get me wrong, off course you need a great company owner and leaders that are accessible for guidance.

And a sponsor who is a leader.

Luckily for me I had mentors when I first started out and even now I have some of the most successful networkers

in the world on my team.  On my training call this Saturday the owner said you have to be thick skinned in this business

and if you can not sit down and call 100 people to start you may want to think whether or not this business is for you.

Fortunately the owner and leaders in my company are accessible.

*****Michael Jordan was asked why was he so successful.  He said because he has failed so many times.  He mentioned how

many times he was put in the game in the last seconds to make  a 3 point winning goal and he failed to make the shot many times.

This is a very interesting conversation. I agree that a strong work ethic is the key to success in all you do. The energy and enthusiasm is so important, because it fuels your work and gives inspiration to others.

I agree to a certain point. Many people fail cause they just don't take ACTION.

But many people are talked into dead matrixes in saturated markets....

Leadership doesnt help You then... You wont make sales in a saturated market...

A MLM in which the average member gets only 1 referral per month will have signed up

every human being on this planet in less than than 3 years....

Since Your average market will be significantly smaller than the population of the earth

( starving children dont buy diet pills ) and the leaders and some active members will get

better results than 1 ref a month You will reach market saturation ( funny You never read

this term on any internet marketing site ) a lot faster.

This leads to a situation in which people who join for a paycheck and not only for the

product can not succeed anymore no matter how hard they try... If they try they can make

a sale here and there but there are not enough prospects left to build a large team.

Every matrix has a bottom. Money is not made at the bottom. It's paid there!

Every matrix is an exponentially growing system and ongoing exponential growth is impossible.

That's a fact taht is mathematically proven ( as well as by means of other sciences ).

Another reason is that many people fail because they dont have success. Sound weird?

Well, lets be honest. Most MLM companies have competitors that offer the same or very

similar product a lot cheaper ( because they dont have to pay commissions to thousands of people).

Just look at GDI. $10 a month for hosting that is by far not the best... You can get better service for 5.99

So to sell GDI hosting YOu must sell the income opportunity. If You already succeeded in a nother MLM

or have a team in GDI then You can honestly tell your prospects how much You make and how great GDI

has influenced your lifestyle. But if You just start out and have no referrals it is hard to ( damn... looking

for the correct english term for this...) represent success. That's why prospects seek the "leaders". They

can act with much more confidence and can therefor convince more people that this will work. When they

talk about success it sounds natural, when the newbie talks about success it sounds faked. When the

"leader" tells people they can make thousands a month they believe it and want to be like he is. When the

newbie tells them they can make thousands they think: "Yeah, keep dreaming boy and get a job"....

So I think that sometimes the difference between making it big and failingis just a question of timing. Some people that would have made it if they joined at the top because they are willing to llearn and work will fail if they join too late.

Thanks for this...

Actually I have product to promote... 60% commissions

People join MLM for different reasons.

Some people see an opportunity to get a few customers and make a few hundred dollars a month.

Some people see an opportunity to make a secondary income to afford themselves the things they don't have in their life. They love what they are doing as a primary career but an extra thousand or two thousand dollars a month would make a big difference I their lives.

Some people hate what they are doing as a primary career and see an opportunity as a transition to replace their career with a career that gives them more freedom.

Some people see an opportunity to completely and radically change their lives by going out and helping other people to do the same thing. And build networks that go around the world and that's not part-time, that's not full time, that's ALL THE TIME.

No matter the reason for joining, the new distributor has one thing that the company does not have; and that is his list of friends, family and co-workers; people who know, like and trust him/her. That is still the best place to start.

Then comes marketing...

For my own experience in network marketing, is that many people just do what they learn from others, and the real network marketing is learn from the masters, go to live events, ask questions in person to those who's having real success, work with then hand by hand, i personally start doing it, because since a started trying to make money from home in 2003, i already spend over $75,000 without get any results, and since i decide to change my mindset and start listening to some of my friends, to go to live events, some are free and some you have to pay a minimum, but i tell you this, it really worth to assist to a live events, that's where i started seeing results in my business.

They tell you It's Easy to Be Successful in Network Marketing when you join. What they don't tell you is it's easy only if you have a continual source of new "eyes on" your product, service, or offer. Getting traffic is a must, but getting highly qualified targeted traffic is essential for anyone to be successful in Network Marketing, MLM or any business where you ask your prospects to join you in your business.

Here are some steps that will help:

Make a plan,

Develop a startegy to carry out that plan,

Be consistent in carrying out your strategy,

and don't ever give up....

Everyone says "The Money is in the List"  What they do not tell you is, people go and get a gmail account that they send their capture page sign up info to and never go and read it.  I have people who have actually joined a program with me and never ever open a single email!

We all have people who join and don't do anything. You can't force them to be successful.  Your job is to keep finding more people.  Those who are really interested will ask questions, read the facts on your website and go out and sponsor people.

And that's because there is so little competition. When 500 distributors are invited to attend a three-hour company training workshop - why is it that only 50 will attend? Where are the other 450? They feel that investing time in training and working their MLM business interferes with their daily cable television schedule. When their small bonus checks arrive at the end of the month, they say: "The business doesn't work, the checks are too small." Or - "The check got smaller all by itself." Well, they are partially right. The business doesn't work - they have to do the work. Ouch! That's really inconvenient. And, "The check got smaller all by itself?" No, the bonus check only reflects the sales volume of one's downline organization. There are three types of people in MLM: 1. Those who joined because they love the products. 2. Those who want to receive bonus checks, if it doesn't require work. 3. Those who want to earn a bonus check. Type 3, those who want to earn a bonus check, represent only a small percentage of all networkers. Most networkers will give great lip service to the idea that they want to earn bonus checks, but their actions speak louder than words. They are easy to recognize by their actions. They . . . can't go to opportunity meetings because "The Simpsons" have a special episode that evening; won't go to opportunity meetings because they attended one once before and they already know the ending; won't make phone appointments because the prospect might say no; wish the company would make it easier for them by lowering prices or do their retailing for them; won't make up a prospecting list because everyone they know just wouldn't be interested; and wish beer was served at the training meetings. The great part about networking is that 95% of all networkers fall into product users and people who wish for bonus checks. That means there is little or no competition for dedicated leaders who want to earn their way in this great business. That's why it is so easy to work and earn large bonus checks in network marketing -- there's no competition at the top! Distributors and prospects are naturally attracted to leaders who lead by example. Good network marketing leaders don't have to prospect for new distributors -- distributor prospects come to them. You'll always hear the non-working network marketing distributors say: "How is it that my upline leader gets all the good prospects?" Because prospects look for leaders - not non-workers. Can you imagine a prospect saying: "I think I'll find a sponsor who whines, complains, and doesn't work the business." No way. Good prospects look for energetic, enthusiastic, dedicated, working sponsors. So, if you want to work where you'll encounter little competition, start at the top. Be a leader.

Great Points! Yes Actions do speak louder than words!

According to Jim Rohn, it is easy to be successful in Network marketing. When you reverse engineer your results, figure it out. How many peoople do you have to talk to to get 100 people in your team?

If you are getting 10 people interested with every 100 you talk to, how many does it take for you to talk to.

Want more customers, talk to more people.

Want more prospects, talk to more people.

Want more sales, talk to more people.

Want more members in your downline, talk to more people.

See... Easy Peasy...

I totally agree Rudi, People want the easy way out. That's why all the get rich quick schemes draw in so many. If everyone would start thinking about helping one another we would all be rich!

I assume you said that with 'tongue in cheek' about all of us being rich.  Not going to happen. Rudi has lots of great suggestions. I'll bet he is a great upline.  I have been in MLM for over 20 years.  There are a huge number of issues to tackle - not enough time for this forum, so I'll just mention one issue. FEAR!  Quite a few people are afraid of rejection.  After they get turned down a few times they give up.  However, some of them can become good distributors if you can get to them before they quit. They need to be taught that their prospects are rejecting  the  opportunity - NOT THEM!  Also, if you are the sponsor you need to work more than one level deep.  Well, I'm getting off-track here. Let me just say that fear of rejection is the most difficult part of MLM.  Is it worth overcoming that fear? YES!

I used to hear that a lot. You need to have a sense of humor about these things and try not to get overwhelmed.  When people use the "SATURATED" argument with me, I say: "Are you getting in"?  If they say "NO", I respond - "Then it won't be saturated".

Success is not an accident!  Many people look at their doctor, their realtor, their lawyer, the internet guru and say "he's so lucky". or "He's so smart, I wish I could have done that", etc...

It's not about Luck, Ideas, or Intelligence.  It's about Action! WHAT YOU DO is infinitely more important that WHAT YOU KNOW.  Action is always the key.

     IT'S A FACT:

SUCCESSFUL people are those who are willing to actually do the things that UNSUCCESSFUL people are unwilling to do.

Are good ideas important?  Of course.  Are opportunities important?  Of course.  But without action they are useless.  If you don't try... You Can't Succeed.

The ASN business has everything that any entrepreneur could want or need.  As a way to make money, it doesn't get better or easier. No company provides more ways to earn, easier marketing methods, all FREE.  But like any other business... You have to, at least, try.  You have everything to gain... and because we never ask you for a dime, you have absolutely nothing to lose.

Thanks for this post and bringing up the subject of "easy".  I believe there must be a distinction, though, of "easy" versus "simple".  The business model of network marketing, as you have outlined, falls into the category of simple, that is, "easy" to understand.  But running a business, succeeding at it--making an actual profit--is not "easy".  No, no.  Success requires hard work, due diligence, constant attention to detail, and probably a thousand other errands of toil.

Is it all worth it?  You betcha!! :)

There are many people wanting to make money online, but they don't  want to make the extra effort. Everyone wants to make money quickly, but it takes time and some work for the affiliate to start making money. We all need to be more relational and build trust and affiliates will come. But we must have patience and help those that need help and then business will grow.
