Q. I'm new to the online world and confused. I don't know if I should spend time and money creating a product, or become an affiliate first. What should I do first to make money online?

 

 

A. The best things to do are avoid information overload and learn the process of marketing.

 

 

The process of marketing can be summed up this way.

 

Find a hungry market of people who want to buy.

Choose a product that appeals to this market.

Choose marketing methods that will ensure you reach this market.

Test your marketing - repeat what works and learn from what does not.

 

 

 

If you apply that process to your online business consistently, success will soon follow.

 

 

 

The main mistake that people make online when choosing what to do first is to find a product they like and try to sell that product.

 

 

 

First of all, starting with the product means you have to find an audience for that product, which is harder than finding a product for a market.

 

 

 

Secondly, very few people online thrive by selling one product.

 

 

 

My advice is to begin as an affiliate. Doing this means you will be selling someone else's product for a commission for a while, but it relieves you of the burden of writing a great sales letter (or the expense of having it done) and is the most pure way to learn the process of marketing.

 

 

 

So, find a hungry market, find a great affiliate product, then learn the process of marketing by selling that product. Once you learn, create a product and apply what you learned to your own product and keep all the money!

It's very hard to make choices. I think one has to rely on people having his trust for advice and make on selection on the basis of

his own attitudes and dreams. The rest requires committment and patience. To my knowledge noone has succeded the day after!

Web houstting, A domain, and a auto responder. So you need at lest $500 dollars to get started. That is what no one wants to tell you. They just want you to join there list so they make money

The best I have used in the past are 000Webhost and their UK sister company Hostinger (important if you want to be recognised as a UK site by Google).

As for a free autoresponder you'll find it hard to beat Listwire.

Of course paid alternative are better, but these are good to get you started. Simply upgrade or find another paid alternative when you have started earning something.

You EVEN don't need paying for the domain name.
e.g. www.dot.tk or www.co.nr are good for a starting web presence.

More than that: some IM experts, when talking about entering a niche, and choosing the long tail keywords to select, recommends to use a free web subdomain for initial tests and, when getting sales, jumping to the paid .com domain.

Ok , AndyB, You made a good point.   A lot of people will not tell you that . That is why they lose a lot of sells they could have made.But again I guess they do not care , they are all ready rich. right?

Maybe one thng people foret is that an online business is like any other business, it takes time and/or money to get it goung. Watch out for the "get rich quick" schemes as you are probably not going to be the one who gets rich quick (smile).

I am a fairly new marketer, and I have an autoresponder and Hosting. Just can't seem to pick  the right niche.  If I had a specified

plan to follow where I could follow the steps, I think I could get up and running.  Also this only the begining.  You got to get your

site seen by a lot of different traffic methods.  Don't have a lot of money to build this traffic with. Anyone have any Ideas?

Do you want to be an affiliate marketer or would you be interested in MLM network marketing direct sales.

Also you need a list and this is building it faster than anything Ive known on the net (7yrs experience) I started  an affiliate to Click bank Products but the fees in Click bank was taking the little I was earning. I now only affiliate Traffic programs (as they are always needed lol ) and Just resonantly Found the perfect Program and team  With a tangible product and AMAZING Compensation plan. Definitely, start with Free Affiliate programs.  If you are good at online marketing they really work. There are tons of free online marketing websites to use, viral mailers work best with replicated affiliate websites, that ability to send an email to other members introducing your product/business rather than simply viewing it in a traffic exchange could help your click thru rate. is  I've been marketing online since 2005,  I now prefer businesses that don't require recruiting to earn i.e. direct sales companies.

It is interesting how it sucks you in. You start doing an hour or two each day and then you realise that you have given up watching TV to make room for three or four or more hours.One has to be careful not to start ignoring the near and dear ones. it is almost like a drug. Well, that is my experience. Anyone agree?

Definitely true as explained in your article. The only question is whether the right people can be found first unless its a real niche you have there. I often struggle with whether to 'find the right people first' or just 'prepare what is necessary first'. The only consolation I have is that I have a website running 24x7x365 already while I am looking for them.

 

Is this a viable way of getting things done? I really don't know but its a perspective I have after having been online for 4 to 5 years.

John, I agree with you. It does take a whole lot of time. I can totally relate to what you have said. I had to start putting myself on a schedule because that was the only thing I was doing. So, now I only do so many hours in a day. Not the whole day. I also have certain days that I do certain things. Like I do my advertising on such and such days. It really makes a difference and I don't feel so overwhelmed. I think I get a lot more done this way too.

It all comes down to this in my opinion, grow a list, then market to the list by connecting with them. Give them some free stuff that will help them and offer something to sell after you have developed a trusting relationship. There is a lot of free ebooks to give a way. That's one way to build a list. Find a good converting LCP. Even if they don't sign up, you still are building your list. The Money is in the list, period.

Affiliate marketing is a good way to getting started with earning online. I have members in the text ad exchanges and viral mailers that I own that are continually making commissions while promoting my sites. I also personally promote a few membership sites as an affiliate that bring in some very easy commissions. This is probably the easiest way to earning some extra cash online and it doesnt even require that you to invest anything to access some good quality free traffic. There are handfuls of advertising sites (Viral mailers, traffic exchanges, Text ad exchanges, safelists and more) that are producing some very good quality responsive FREE traffic.

In my opinion the most important thing is to not jump around until you have started to make a steady cash flow, built your list to at least 1000 and started to have a recognizable brand.  Don't jump product/program you are going to promote, and choose one or two marketing strategies and stick with it. Commit to one year before you change.
