I happen to beleive natural link building makes your websites rise higher while unnatural link building decreases it. Search engines know all the tricks and the only way to WOW! them is by doing something naturally that garners attention.

Lower DA, better initial results; higher DA, climbing becomes way slower.

 

When link building works, and Google's algo decides to benefit your rankings, it can take some 2 months per link to barely move up one position.

 

 

Google algo facing a lot of low-quality backlinks, assume that you’re using a sketchy strategy, like paying for them or hiring an agency that tries to cheat the system ... and Big G algo is programmed to punish anyweb that tries to cheat.
