What ticks you off or makes you happy when safelisting?

A few of my own dislikes includes:

  • Being forced to view ads before I can send.
  • Having to click "Leave this page" after every single ad (a few safelists do have this "feature", it's not the advertiser's doing)
  • Captcha security checks (I'd much rather do a simple click on an icon rather than have to type in 2 or 3 words)
  • Tiny credit rewards (1 credit per ad? Really??)

My likes include:

  • Short timers for non-paid ads (Contact solos and the like, sure, but why 30 seconds for free ads??)
  • Opening at least 10 ads at a time, with timers running simultaneously.
  • Personalization on free account mailings

So what are your likes/dislikes?

Thanks for your input, apsuccess.  That would be nice, for sure.

Anyone else?

My intention here is not to be confrontational or to diss anyone's list.  I'm just trying to get a feel for what people like/dislike, in case I want to run my own in the near future. :)

I dislike the ones where I've paid for an upgrade and then find that it's impossible to actually mail to the maximum limit of my upgrade - for example, if my upgrade allows me to mail up to 3000 every 3 days, but I only earn 10 credits for each mail that I click and I only receive 5 mails per day...

I dislike having to watch a video before I get to see the Q & A and other stats.  If I have to see a video 1st, I delete the whole thing.  Unless it was sent to me from someone I trust a whole lot!

Also, 30 sec ads are a waste of time.  10 sec should be the maximum.

As far as your inbox being flooded; no one I know gives out their real email address.  How do you think gmail got so big

The thing that peeves me the most about using safelists

is when you receive your own email advertisements.

I don't believe all safelists allow this, but I am a member

of some that after you send out your very own ad, you

will see it in your own inbox.

It defeats the purpose, not to mention skews the CTR stats.

What sense does it make for you to view your own ad?

What I dislike the most:

Having to click through the same Upsells EVERY day when logging in....

Seeing tons of ads and solos for obvious Scams

Not being allowed to use as many credits as I earn as a free member

I appreciate all the responses so far, and welcome more.  It's helping me to figure out how to best serve the people who join my safelist when I launch it in the near future. :)

Yes, that really is annoying. An upsell every now & then would be fine, as a reminder, but every single time is just too much.

Agreed, though I'm not sure how that can be avoided without hiring a full-time team of vetters to check every business opportunity that gets advertised.

Again, yes, that doesn't seem fair.  Not sure what the logic is behind it, but I'll probably find out when I start running my own list.

i have the same feeling about that problem for being a member for lets say 1 year and still everyday even as a premium member i have to go trough 2/4 upsales even after being logg out for not being active so i log in again and still have to see the same upsales , i wish they could do some IP address timer so that a member have not to see upsales for about 72 hours , that would be nice ,

Sometime its the persons ad link and not the Owners fault

no no it is hosting firewall setting, to block some range of ip, so in that you will get 403 forbidden error.

 I would like to add the same banner more than one time. Many sites will not allow that.

I figure if I  earn the credits or have an upgraded account, that I should be able to use the banner more than once!

If I understand SL's correctly instead of putting the same banner in more than once just add credits to the banner, should result in the same thing, in some SL's I have the same banner more than once but that is due to either a mistake on my part or the older version has expired. I think you would want a different banner for the same site instead of the same banner more than once, This is just what I have observed having been in this  for more than 5 years. Those who own SL;s and TE's should chime in here since they have the most knowledge of how these work.

No, if you put the same banner in more than once and they all have credits assigned you will get more impressions than if you had just one banner. (two banners = twice the impressions) The system is rotating all the banners evenly instead of per account.

That's good to know. I can see the value of more than one, I thought one would get the results of two but I see the flaw in my thinking, I thought that the owners would try to avoid having the same item repeated but I guess not.

Thanks Darren: That's kinda good to know since I have a gazillion or two banner credits and more coming every day, I've long had the impression that there was no benefit to posting the same banner more than once.

One thing that grinds my gears is a site that lets you accumulate small sums of cash but will not allow you to purchase network ads with the balance. If they call it cash but do not accept it as cash it smells pretty bad.

Another issue is a site that does not disclose the size of its membership. I have joined sites that turned out to only have ,say ,65 members. I have promoted and recruited 3 or 4more and a year later the membership stands at about 70. If a site is fairly new it can be advantageous to get in early but a site that has been around for a while and still has a tiny membership is a total waste of time. If the owner does not promote his own site what else does not get done?

Oh boy this is a loaded question.. :)

I have a few things I wish would change with mailers..

1)can only open few mails at a time

2)1-5 credits per click

I often wonder if some of these owners do any surfing , as I feel if they did they would see what a pain this is..

3)Mailing to inactive members-meaning many signup to a mailer and never again use it or they only use it once in a great while..

4) Not enough credits to earn when upgraded to mail to the entire membership for the month.. say they have 4000 subscribed members, and I can only have enough mails to earn 1000 credits.. for that next days mailing, this means I don't reach all the members.. really pointless..

5) yes multiple  ads when you log in... very spammy!

Anything is possible if you are consistent and put yourself out there..
