dswival Posted December 17, 2016 Report Posted December 17, 2016 Exit popups that force you back to the site should also be banned I think. Quote
rpsmith Posted December 17, 2016 Report Posted December 17, 2016 While I agree that pop ups have a place when used correctly. I would beware of popups as a rule. I have noted that a few of them contain phishing or malware scripts in them. I haven't seen many in a while, but it is always good to keep your security software up to date. When I run into one nowadays, my security programs block them. Quote Free Video Chat Service! Get Connected And Stay Connected!Click Here!
captkirk Posted December 17, 2016 Report Posted December 17, 2016 pop ups are really annoying. also annoying are ads by te owners on sites where after loggin user gets bombarded with upgrade offer variety click after click before he /she actual starts to surf Nope they don't bother me at all, it's part of doing business with them. If a person don't like it they have a choice. Start their own business or just don't use the sites. BTW, I did start my own business! Quote Tommie Kirkland (Captkirk) Here... leiana777 Posted December 20, 2016 Report Posted December 20, 2016 also those asking popups that generate those dialogs may be disgusting, some times that popup make more than 1 answer, I really hate that, they ask if you want to leave, and after that another popup asking if you are sure.. disgusting Quote
wittyguyftl Posted March 2, 2017 Report Posted March 2, 2017 I surf a lot on Safari with my Ipad, most exit pop ups there cause the frame to break, So I say ban them Quote
Greg Wessels Posted March 4, 2017 Report Posted March 4, 2017 I use Traffic Browser when surfing so I never see any popups...disabled within browser. Quote
AnnieDiamond Posted March 13, 2017 Report Posted March 13, 2017 I really dislike pop ups on TEs, it completely upsets ones surfing flow.... Quote
Yersh321 Posted March 15, 2017 Report Posted March 15, 2017 I treat pop-ups as inevitable evil. In each field of activity there are problematic places. The miners, for example, do not have everything smooth with security. I think that this is an inconvenience that can be tolerated. Another question - the effectiveness of pop-ups. They irritate users. I think advertisers themselves should refuse to use them. Quote
dtopmark Posted September 3, 2017 Report Posted September 3, 2017 If you are going to use a popup, then I recommend that you don't use the kind that are prompts. I personally never agree to view those popups when asked. Instead use an overlay popup that has an add to the site that you want people to visit. They work much better. davepilgrim Posted September 8, 2017 Report Posted September 8, 2017 Pop-ups in TEs are really annoying. The situation is made worse because some of them also act as framebreakers, so when you click 'leave' you're never sure whether it's going to grab you by the lapels and haul you right out of the TE! simplygenius Posted September 10, 2017 Report Posted September 10, 2017 If the popups are not aggressive then it's o.k as marketing use these as a modal for their CTA. The advertising is shrinking as the day goes by so every effort is made to keep the visitor on the site long enough to make a decision to buy or long enough to show you an ad in order to generate revenue. What marketers should do is design their popup to be non intrusive - not to load to cover the content the visitor is obviously reading if could be like a flashing beacon in the top left hand corner that says "click here as soon as your are done viewing". For traffic exchanges it's a distraction and would have to communicate exactly what the visitor is looking for otherwise it will become irrelevant and annoying. Quote
rpsmith Posted October 23, 2017 Report Posted October 23, 2017 I hate pop ups and usually don't deal with people who use them. I have run into a few that triggered my browser security. I know that ,in the past, popups were responsible for planting viruses and malware. I don't know for sure if the practice is still going on. Quote Free Video Chat Service! aditya Posted November 15, 2017 Report Posted November 15, 2017 (edited) Whether Pop ups or Pop unders, both are not liked. But wait..........If they generate a good income for me, I will not mind them. One can earn a good income in Mingle Cash which uses pop under ads. rpsmith Posted April 6, 2018 Report Posted April 6, 2018 I am cautious about pop ups these days. I have noted that there are some who use them for the scam "virus warning" I have warned about in another thread. I ran into one a few days ago. I also ran into one that was like the old "mouse trapping" pop ups seen years ago. The fact that they are still around is something of a surprise to me. Quote Free Video Chat Service!
