You'll find many lists of safelists online. Some are based on tracking,others are more based on personal preference or other factors.

Here are my safelist statistics for august 2015 when it comes to getting real sign-ups to my site Fast List Mailer.

You can click through to previous months and you' ll see that very often the same sites keep returning so that might be a good starting point to maybe discover new sites. Results will be different for you since  you probably will promote a different site, probably  a capture page with a different message and purpose and different emails. But over the past years I've promoted different sorts of pages  and sites and many of these safelists gave me good results as well, so they work well for promoting different sites and opportunities.

It's best to  do your own tracking for your specific advertising.If if you're promoting capture pages to collect leads, you can track opt-ins/form sumbissions that might give you much better information than only looking at the amount of clicks (visits) you get or the click through ratio of emails sent with safelists. In my case, I own two safelists Fast List Mailer (18 months old now) and List Unlocked (new since 10 September) and my main goal with my promotions is getting people to sign-up so they can enter my funnel. I also do some other promotions, promoting a capture page to build a separate list, and I'm getting similar results with those safelists.

Could you please explain what the unique percent means? I noticed some of the percentages are higher at some safelists that you got fewer sign ups.

Hi Phyllis,

It's the percentage of unique visitors. If I get for example 500 visitors to my site in a month, maybe it's only 100 or 200 unique (unique IP address) .
You'll get the same people seeing your site multiple times if you email them regularly (and if they are active members at that safelist, reading emails often).

It's not necessarily a bad thing since often people only  take action after seeing your ad a few times.

But it's good to have at least enough different people seeing your site, and not always the same small group.

That's why I like using mailers that keep growing and get fresh new members to see my site.

How it is "technically" done tracking signups not just clicks? Is it difficult? Are there free tracking services that I could use to do it? Thanks.

Smart url is popular tracking service right now but there are quite a few others. Like Kenny said more results depends on the site and ad copy, stale emails from the site and stale splash pages don't get the response fresh eye grabbing capture page gets. You are marketing to people who are burnt out on the hard sell. Matthew Graves will tell you these first contact mails on safelists are to build a list; a tribe that know,like, and trust you, then you sell to your list.

Top safelists can vary person to person.. it will depend on your own personal tracking.

 

If you are upgraded to a mailer sure your results can be better as you can mail more..

 

if you are a free member , many mailers don't let you mail to the entire list , so then that mailer may not be on one's top list..

 

there is just too many variables and one's top may not be another's top list..

The Top mailer that I like to use is HotSpot Mailer. They give you the choice to view mail on the site instead of sending it to your email address.
